Children’s Ministry exists to fulfill the mission of Riverside Church to families with young children. Our desire is that the children who encounter our ministry would “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18). Riverside Church is community of faith made up of all ages and all different backgrounds coming together to encourage one another in the love of Christ. As a community, we strive to create opportunities, beyond Sunday morning, for you and your children to build authentic relationships with the other families of Riverside – relationships that will strengthen us in the good times, and support us through the tough times. We pray at Riverside you find an open and honest place where your family can get connected, have fun and learn about life and faith together! If you have any questions please feel free to contact us. Children offerings on Sunday Morning:
Nursery: Available for children infant through age 3 during the 9:45am worship service. Children will hear a story and engage in hands on activities as part of the toddlers and preschool curriculum from Explore the Bible. There are age appropriate toys and books for the children to enjoy. The nursery is a safe, loving, and clean environment and is staffed by at least 2 volunteers who nurture and care for the little ones. Children are also always welcome to stay with their parents during the service. We also have a wiggle room in the back of the worship where adults can listen to the service while their little ones play.
Children’s Program: Children’s programs are offered during the 9:45am and 11:15am worship services for children ages K through 5th grade. During the 9:45am service we offer three separate classes, one for PreK-3rd grade and one for 4th and one for 5th grade students. During the 11:15 service, all children PreK-5th grade will be together for a combined worship time. Children are always welcome to remain in worship with their parents, we have children packets in the back of the room. If your children would like to attend the children’s program during worship there is a registration table by the office doors.
We ask that you partner with us in prayer for our volunteer teachers and our staff. We welcome parents to come and volunteer as teachers, helpers, and event planners. To ensure the safety of your children while in our care, we require that all our volunteers working directly with children go through a child protection training with our Children’s Ministry Director, and all adults complete a background check. If you would like to volunteer or want to know more about our child protection policy, please contact our Children’s Ministry Administrator Barb Haebler.
