Riverside is active in the local community.  You don’t need to be a member at Riverside to participate and would love for you to join in!

Sugarland Elementary & Community

We have been in partnership with Sugarland Elementary for many years.  Our outreach in this community has evolved and continues to adjust as the Sugarland ES Administration and the community identify opportunities.  Riverside helps with packing food for Backpack Buddies, providing food for students over school breaks, after school programs, evening Middle School and High School Youth Groups at Sugarland ES, Work Days at the Elementary school and hosting a Children’s Summer Camp Sonrise.

Back Pack MinistryBackpacks

This ministry meets bi-weekly on Thursday’s at Sugarland Elementary packing backpacks with food.  This is an easy way to support our local community.  Generally requires 1 hour of time and you don’t need to attend Riverside to get involved. Adults, High School Students and local service organizations are welcome. Visit our Sign Up Genius to volunteer.

Afternoon Adventure

Afternoon Adventure is a free after school program that Riverside runs for Sugarland Elementary Students in the Fall and Spring.  It is a great way for students to experience an after school program.  We host games, crafts, snack and other fun activities.  During December we host a Christmas party with all of the trimmings.  For more information on how you can get involved contact us.

Feed a StudentRice

Riverside purchases food for the Sugarland Elementary Backpack Buddies during Christmas and Easter season.  We pack  groceries for about 200 families, and deliver them to Sugarland Elementary to help these families during the school breaks.  The cost to provide one meal a day for a student for a week is approximately $40.  On Line Donation

Riverside hosts a FREE Children’s Bible Camp at Sugarland Elementary.  This allows us to reach a broader community of people.  It allows Children to participate who would not have an opportunity to attend a Summer Camp, or Middle and High School Students the opportunity to volunteer and serve in their community. We host a live band, skit team, games, crafts and a brief message.  We have over 300 children and 150 volunteers daily.  This camp requires planning and many months of preparation.  If this something you would like to be apart of on a small or large scale let us know.  Contact us.

Lunch for the Soul

Lunch for the SoulJoin us on Wednesdays at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Herndon, VA.  We cook and prepare a hot meal for the day laborer community, followed by worship and bible study.  Opportunities include, grocery shopping, prepping food, cooking, driving, setting up and cleaning up. If you are bi-lingual with English and Spanish that is helpful but not necessary.  If you would like to join us, Contact us or sign up at  SignUpGenius.

Share Christmas

Share Christmas allows you to take Christ’s love into our local community.  Impacting a child or their entire family. How does this happen?  For the last 5 years we have worked with Sugarland Elementary  Administration to identify families and we:

  • Adopt 100 families
  • Fill 100 shoe boxes for elementary ages students with fun/practical items.
  • Provide food for 200 students/families over the Christmas break (This is Feed a Student)
  • Provide a Christmas Eve meal and worship for the Lunch for the Soul community.

If you are interested in adopting a family, filling a shoe box, helping with feeding students over Christmas break or a Christmas eve meal, please contact us.

The Porch      Faith Chapel 3 (Mobile)

We are starting a New Church Community in Lucketts, VA. We are calling our ministry “The Porch” because it’s a place of hospitality, where everyone is welcome. It’s a place where neighbors can come to talk, listen, get to know each other and develop their relationships with God. “The Porch” is a merger of modern-day hospitality and Biblical roots. Two thousand years ago, “the porch” was the place from which the early church grew:  Acts 5:12 Through the work of the apostles, many God-signs were set up among the people, many wonderful things done.  Visit theporchinlucketts.org.
