In June we took the largest class we’ve ever had of incoming 9th graders to our OCNJ high school beach camp! It was amazing to see these students open up to each other during this week and
connect with God, for some, for the first time. Two weeks ago we continued to see the community and the connections with this group at the Blake’s home when we gathered with 20
incoming freshmen and their parents at a Riverside Church back to school night. The night was spent praying for a new school year, our school system, teachers, administrators and each other. We talked about how important it is to stay focused on our relationship with Jesus during the change into High School, and also played some games while enjoying an ice cream sundae bar!
On September 8th 7:00-8:15pm, we are starting a weekly freshmen fellowship that we are calling “Recharge” to connect these 9th graders and their friends to each other and to Christ. Each week we will play silly games, eat some snacks, spend time with one another, and share stories about Jesus we find in scripture about the amazing things He can do for them. We will end the night by splitting up into small groups and have a time of discussion to talk about what they heard from the stories.
Please pray for all our students as they start back to school. Pray for our freshmen fellowship as we get it started! Pray for our leaders that will be sharing stories from life and the Bible into the lives of these young adults!
