Children’s Ministry exists to fulfill the mission of Riverside Church to families with young children. Our desire is that the children who encounter our ministry would “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
2 Peter 3:18
The Nursery is available for children infant through age 3 during the 9:45am worship service. Children will hear a story and engage in hands on activities as part of the toddlers and preschool curriculum from Explore the Bible. The nursery is a safe, loving, and clean environment and is staffed by at least 2 volunteers who nurture and care for the little ones. Children are also always welcome to stay with their parents during the service. We also have a wiggle room in the back of the worship where adults can listen to the service while their little ones play.
Children’s programs are offered during the 9:45am and 11:15am worship services for children ages K through 5th grade. This year our Sunday School teaches a mix of classic and uncommon Bible stories that kids haven’t heard before–which impacts their faith and changes their lives. Sunday School is every Sunday except the last Sunday of the month when we have “All Together Sunday”.
All Together Sunday's
All Together Sunday is one way to live out our commitment to children and our core value of “room for one more” including our youngest members. Every last Sunday of the month at the 9:45 AM worship service and every second Sunday of the month at the 11:15 AM Spanish Worship Service there is no Sunday School so that our children can experience worship. We believe a powerful lesson for our children is that “church” is for all ages. Our Sunday School teachers believe children most effectively learn about worship by watching adults worship. Children will be dismissed later in the service to join in a fun activity!
Riverside’s free Bible camp for Pre-k through 5th grade is held each summer at Sugarland Elementary. Approximately 300 campers and 150 volunteers worship with a live band, watch skits, hear Bible stories, make crafts and play games! Hosting at the school allows the local community to participate and provides space for a group this size. This camp is unique in that we have volunteers ranging from rising 6th grade students through Adults. This helps make the camp fun for the kids, but allows our youth to witness to campers!
