Riverside strives to be active in the local Community. In the midst of COVID19 uncertainty, we continue to work with our local partners and friends to provide food for families in our own backyard. We are working out the details for the Feed a Student bag distribution and supplementing the weekly backpack buddies. Stay tune to see how you can help.

Backpack Ministry

This ministry meets twice a month at Sugarland Elementary packing backpacks with food for 300 students to have over a weekend. Generally this requires 1 hour of time and you don’t need to attend Riverside to get involved. Adults, High School Students and local service organizations are welcome. EMAIL US FOR A SIGN UP LINK

After School Programs

We host a FREE after school program at Sugarland Elementary called Afternoon Adventure in the fall and spring of each school year.  It is a fun afternoon of crafts, a bible story, games and time to hang out with friends.

Ridgetop Coffee and Tea hosts a homework club on Wednesday Afternoons from 4:30pm to 7:30pm for Middle and High School Students who need help with school work. They meet at Ridgetop Coffee.

Feed a Student and Adopt a Family

During the school year, students have access to meals through the school. We participate in Backpack Buddies to provides food assistance over a weekend for 300 students. During the Winter and Spring breaks students don’t have access to either of these services.  Riverside purchases food for 2 meals a day for a week for 300 students to have during the week they are not at school.

At Christmas, Sugarland Elementary Administrative Staff identifies families that could use assistance during the Christmas season. These families make a wish list for family and friends of Riverside to purchase, wrap and deliver the gifts to the school.

Both of these activities allow individuals to invite friends, neighbors and co-workers to join them or serve as a family.
